'The Mariners need a lot of things, but not Bedard'

Sean Deveny of the SportingNews writes in his blog that the Mariners need help, but not from Bedard. A few interesting things to note:
  • Deveny writes that Adam Jones is the best player in the Mariners' system, and probably shouldn't be traded.
  • He also notes that Asdrubal Cabrera was traded to the Indians in 2006 for Eduardo Perez which backfired horribly. Cabrera helped the Indians during a secon half surge in 2007, and Perez hit .195 in 43 games with the Mariners.
  • The Angels have added Torri Hunter and Jon Garland while only giving up Orlando Cabrera, which should make them even better. Also, he writes that if the Angels get Johan Santana, or had acquired Miguel Cabrera, then the West would've been locked for the Angels.
  • He also reviews the Mariners' rotation, bullpen and lineup. It's a good read, check it out.
