Mariners Sign Cairo
The Mariners made a minor move today by signing another super sub, Miguel Cairo to a one year deal. The journeyman has played for the Yankees and Cardinals in 2007. Cairo hit .253 in 82 games last year. Cairo can play every infield position (except catcher), and the corner outfield spots. Having two players with the ability to play almost everywhere whould help out manager John McLaren a lot. Cairo also brings some playoff expeirence to the table. With St. Louis in the 2001 and 2002 playoffs, and with the Yankees in the 2004 and 2006 playoffs. Cairo hit .348 (8-for-23) in nine Division Series games, and .316 (12-for-38) in 10 career Championship Series games. You can find a complete profile of Cairo here.
