MacLaren's Numbers Game
The Mariners had the fewest walks in the league, and the second fewest strikeouts. Odd stats, but they will keep getting odder, or more odd. Mac plans to hand out sheets this spring, with each batter's stats in different counts, for example, so-and-so had a .364 BA when the count was 1-2, but a .101 BA when the counts was 1-1. The plan is that these splits will allow the Mariners' hitters to discover what counts they have better success in, starting with Spring Training so it all melts in. If this pans out, than maybe it will help out this Mariners team. With the Angels as good as they should be, this team may need any advantage they can get. Not saying that their rotation and bullpen aren't some of the best in the league.
